VIDEO: The One-Trick-Pony Erica Strikes Again!

Hi guys! Or shall I say ‘haaaay’?

Nope, did not mean ‘heeey’, meant it as a pony pun because it turns out I am a total one-trick-pony this month. I have done almost exactly the same thing I did with my first post, heat embossed a background, used a word diecut and surprise, surprise! Heatembossed the word die too. AND trimmed down the background to have a white frame. AND used coloured cardstock. AND layered up the word die with black card stock, for that nice shadow. Yep. Total one-trick-pony. The only difference is the colour scheme and I did not add ink blending on this one...

Last couple of cards. YouTube Video for these HERE. YouTube video for this copycat one HERE.

However, even with all those similarities, I’m going to attempt to capture your interest. Ok, picture this: coloured card stock with pearl embossing powder over a dark ink. Huh? How about it? Nice, right? I used a big flower stamp from Altenew, this one is called Mega Succulent and it’s amazing. I stamped it up with Oceanside ink on Aqua Sky coloured card stock. These are the brand new inks and papers from Concord & 9th.

Over this, I stamped with my Embossing Pad (which is now slightly mint green due to me not cleaning off the stamp very well in between) and then sprinkled on Green Pearl embossing powder. This isn’t a deep green, it’s more like a soft aqua green but on the coloured card stock with the ink, it’s like turquoise!

The word die I used for this card says ‘Hooray’ and it has a word and a shadow bit. The shadow bit I cut out of white card stock, and heat embossed Aquamarine embossing glitter on. The word bit I cut out of black card stock four times and layered up. On top of these I heat embossed the same Green Pearl, and with the card stock being black underneath, it turned into a gorgeous deep teal. I love seeing how the embossing powders change colour, depending on the colour of the backing card stock. It’s like magic!

With all these bits assembled, it was quick work of finishing the card by adding it to a card base. A bit of glue and something to weigh it down while it dried and bam, done. Easy peasy! Imagine using coloured embossing powders on white card stock with this stamp. Now that would be a lovely CAS card!

Well, I told you it wasn’t much to it. I hope you like the card, even with it basically being a copycat of my last post. If you make a card this month, using the pearl powders, don’t forget to upload it to the Facebook fan group (there is an album for each month’s challenge) and you will be in with a chance to win a $15 gift card to the shop!

Thanks for stopping by today and don’t forget to check out the YouTube video too!

Lots of love and happy crafting from Erica
