Collage Art by Jaine

I love collage art and including things found on my morning walk is the best thing. Here I've made a collage for my junk journal which includes elements made using Embossing Glitter just to bling things up a bit!

To create a collage like mine you need to collect together materials such as, a doily, used tea bag, bit of fabric, paint chip and fern leaf as well as Tea Dye Distress Oxide and Florida Sunset and Sunset Boulevard Embossing powder and glitter.

I tea dyed the paper with the Oxide ink by adding ink to a craft mat, adding water and smooshing the paper into this.

I added some journaling with a graphite pencil. This can be total nonesense or write the whole thing without lifting the pencil off the page so it's just background pattern.

Using gel medium, I glued all of my elements down together. The key to good collage is overlapping as many elements as possible. Create patterns and trios are pleasing to the eye.

I embossed two sheets of card with Florida Sunset and Sunset Boulevard powder and Embossing Glitter, choosing the colours to coordinate with the colours in my little bits of fabric, to use for die cutting.

I cut some hearts deliberately choosing to cut from the edges where the embossing was thinner giving a more distressed feel.

Don't worry the rest of the embossing will be used for die cutting and even the negative parts will be included in future collages.

A bit of stitching just adds a bit more texture and it's finished. Even the title from the paint chip was just right. I also stitched the hearts to the page and hand cut three squares from the glitter card just to create a balance.

Hopefully I've inspired you to create some collage of your own:
