A card you can't RESIST...

Hi everyone!! It’s Tina McDonald here!! I’m so excited to be here to share my very first post on the WOW blog!!! I hope that you will find it inspiring and that it will make you want to dig in and do some creating yourself!!
For my project today, I created a simple card using a couple of techniques, which I will step you thru. They are simple and I’m sure you already know how to do them, but I’ll explain anyway!

For my creation, I used the following WOW products:
WOW Clear Gloss Super Fine
WOW Suzy West BY THE BAY collection “CABLE CAR RED”
WOW CALL ME stamp set
WOW BROCADE stamp set

Resist technique
I’m sure this is a technique you have all used before. It is when we heat emboss an area so that inks and paints will be resisted. Here’s how I did it for this card!

1. Trim cream cardstock to desired size.
2. Apply Watermark ink to WOW Brocade stamp. Stamp image onto trimmed cardstock. Cover well with WOW clear gloss super fine embossing powder. Heat until melted.
TIP: I was not really picky about having the entire image covered with embossing powder. Where I was looking for a distressed look, I brushed off small amounts of the powder before embossing to help give that aged look.
3. Add Ranger Distress Ink to a sponge and cover the entire piece of cardstock with lots of ink. Using a rag, rub the image to remove ink from the stamped area. The heated embossing powder acts as a resist, and will not allow it to absorb the ink!! So those images will remain an ivory color, while the non-embossed areas will absorb the ink, creating an antique look. Ink edges well to complete the look.

Embossed Flower:
In this technique, I heat embossed a rolled flower. By doing this, not only does it make the flower absolutely gorgeous! But it also helps to make it more firm and sturdy! Here’s what I did.

1. Cut rolled flower using Spellbinders Bitty Blossoms die template. Roll and adhere.
2. Spray rolled flower with Helmar’s V2 Vellum adhesive!
3. Generously add Suzy West By The Bay’s CABLE CAR Red embossing powder to the flower. Shake off excess. Heat set. Admire your beautiful creation!

My sentiment is also one of the WOW stamps and is heat set using the same Cable Car red embossing powder!!

The assembley of this card is simple! I cut the bottom edge using Spellbinders Edgabilities, layered cardstocks, added by embossed pieces, some ribbon and pins and we're good to go! :)

I hope this creation has inspired you! I’m not a real artsy fartsy designer. I admire the work that these types of designers do, but it’s just out of my comfort zone. I LOVE to create clean, romantic designs… and I know many of you out there are the same! So, my creations are dedicated to you! I’d love for you to visit my blog for more projects using WOW embossing powders in the near future!

Thanks for stopping by for my first WOW post! Lots more to come!
So until next time...
Happy Embossing!
~TINA~
