Video: How to use Pearl embossing Powder - DT Verity

Hello, it's Verity with another video and blog post as a Creative team member for WOW!  Have you got a few pearl embossing powders in your stash but unsure how to use them? I'm showing you with two cards how to use the pearl embossing powders to create stunning pearlized embossing on your cards. These differ from regular powders as these work best and transform when you use them on coloured and dark cardstock. The darker the card the more intense the colour of the powders. I'm showing you two ways, so if you don't have dark coloured card, stick around for card number 2 to see how you can use them on white card too.

Happy memories - embossed background

I must admit I was having a bit of a problem coming up with a memory keeping project for this months post. I have been making almost only cards lately and had a bit of a problem filling a whole layout. I do make some layouts and lately I've been partial to letter sized layouts because the format remind me of cards and makes it easier for me to plan the page. This time I made a A4 sized layout because it's easier for me to find the page protectors in regular stores here. I used some good cardstock that doesn't warp much when you heat it or add water since i knew I would emboss it.
Here's what I did. I picked the pretty Chrysanthemum background stamp and embossed it in Silver Pearl embossing powder three times in a row across the background. I must admit I was more than a little inspired by Isha Guptas cards for her guest post earlier this week. I used distress inks in Twisted Citron and Mermaid Lagoon and applied with an ink blending tool randomly over the embossed are…

Ornamental Top Hat

Hi there, Rachel here with my project for this month's fabulous 3D Challenge.
I decided to craft a Top Hat and decorate it with some yummy flowers made using embossing powders.

The hat was created using plain black card that had been stamped with the Brocade Clear Stamp and embossed with Clear Super Fine Embossing Powder.

For the flower embellishments I mixed the new Melt It! powder with Silver Pearl E/P (the light ones) and also added a pinch of Ebony E/P to the mix to create the darker ones. I melted the powders in foil cake trays and poured them into silicone molds - aren't they just divine?

Well I hope you like my project this month and please keep stopping by to see all the other wonderful ideas from our Design Team and don't forget to join in our Challenge to have the chance to win some of our lovely powders.

Have a great crafty month,

Rachel x

Vintage Inspired Mothers Day Card

Hi it's Sarah here... :D

Mothers Day has passed here in the UK but I thought I would share with you a vintage inspired card that I created for my wonderful Mum.

I tried a new technique involving heat embossing onto acrylic. I had some clear ornate acrylic frames that were a little too modern looking for the effect that I was hoping to create so I experimented with embossing them... I used a layer of Silver Pearl Embossing Powder followed by a layer of Gold Satin Pearl over the top - you can see that this changes the colour from a modern looking 'silver colour' to a lovely vintage pearl colour. I think the effect works really well - what do you think?

I stamped the "Happy Mothers Day' sentiment from the "Everyday Sentiments Stamp Set"

To complete the card, I created some 3D embellishments using a mixture of Pearl Gold Sparkle, Orange Pearl, Silver Pearl & Melt It Powder. I attached these embellishments along with some others including beautiful lace a…

Crisp & Cold

Hi Wowsers, Rachel here with my project for this months theme, Ice & Snow.
I decided to create a layout using a photo I took last winter. I'm not the best with my camera but I keep on trying and I quite liked this one as I think it goes well with our theme.

Handy Stamp Storage Idea

Hello everyone... Happy Tuesday! :D

It's Sarah here with today's blog post created for our Monochromatic theme.

I don't know about you, but I always find I need to use stamps from a mixture of stamp sets and I thought it would be easier if I didn't have to slide each stamp set in and out of the packets all of the time.

I have a bunch of empty CD cases that I had almost thrown out but thankfully I hadn't as they turned out to be the perfect solution! The part that holds the CD easily popped out so I could then position my different stamp sets within them.

I found an old wooden CD box but it had no lid and as all clear acrylic stamps are best stored out of the light, I decided I would make a box lid for it... not just a plain lid though... a Wow Embossed box lid!

Here are brief instructions on how to make it:

STEP ONE

Using pearl silver card, I created a square to the size that I needed (145mm) and added 30mm wide rectangles around the square adding in some t…
