Hi this is Jenifer here with you today to share my Wood piece with you.  I took a plain piece of wood veneer and added some opaque bright white Ultra High to it to give it an old weathered picket fence look.  I did 2 coats to really make it stand out.  I put a flower in the middle with a molded flower in the center.

Here is a close-up of my wood piece.
WOW supplies used:

Wood up-cycle

Hello all,  its been a fantastic month on the blog  with all the amazing projects that have been created.  Today I am going to share two projects with you.

For the first project I got an old coaster set and painted it all in black.  After the paint was dried I applied papers to cover the sides that you would see.   I Then had lots of fun triple embossing the whole project in clear regular embossing powder to seal them.  A simple and effective way to make a cool addition to your home or  as a gift.

I made this project for my graphic 45 audition .  I used an old frame.  I applied versa mark to the entire frame and then added copper embossing powder.  I applied two coats.   Once it has set a rubbed some metallic rub around the frame to give it an aged look.

I hope you have enjoyed my share today and it has inspired you to try something new.  Keep an eye out on the blog for more amazing projects using wood and embossing powders.  Don't forget if you do create something with wood and embossing powders to enter it into our monthly challenge.  you might win six colours of your choice :-)  Happy Scrappin everyone xox Donna

Enjoy the Journey - Altered Paintbrush

Hi guys! It's Sandie here today, with my take on our March challenge which is WOOD

I started with a cheap 4" wood handled paintbrush, from a discount store, and primed it with a few coats of gesso. Then I covered the handle with text coffee filter paper and finished it off with some clear embossing powder.

I made some black and white flowers using Melt-It and some moulds and I embellished the front of the brush.

Making wood grain texture over wood with Irit

Hello my dear crafty friends!
Irit is here today and this is my take of our Wood monthly challenge.
Actually I worked over wooden surface, but then I made my own wood grain texture using our fantastic WOW! Embossing powders and the result is quite interesting.
Here is my finished project: wooden wall deco that  was made with chipboards and masks only and tons of WOW! products.

This medium size wooden kitchen board was flat and with no texture, so I made  it with a wood grain stencil and textured paste. I added   Paprika, Nutmeg and Honey powders over wet textured paste and heat embossed them. Then I misted with a few Lindy's Stamp Gang brown and  golden mists and sprinkled some more embossing powders over it. As the last step I  used clear embossing ink over the raised areas and added some more powders to get this wood grain look of the background.
The chipboard shapes were painted with Gelatos and heat embossed with clear embossing powder (some of them) ; some of them were heat embossed with Apple red, Cardinal red, Opaque Primary Mandarin and Opaque Pastel Peach.

The upper part of the deco was made with Tando mask and textured paste and then heat embossed with Peach Gleam glitter and Natural Ultra shimmer glitter.

So as you can see we can work over wood with WOW! powders and then we can make our faux wood with those powders too.

Say Cheese! Photo Booth Props

No dinner party is complete without the proper attire.

For my son's birthday, I had everyone dress up their smiles with moustache and sunglass photo props I colored with WOW! Embossing Powders.

The plain wooden props were available at the local craft store. I love the fun shapes! To prepare each of the items, I did dust each one with a bit of powder (baby powder, corn starch or an official powder tool works) to ensure there was no moisture or oils on the wood from handling them.

I used my Versamark stamp pad directly on the wooden ornaments and coated each one with the following colors:

Ultra High Black on the "handlebar moustache"
Primary Bark with a sprinkle of Nutmeg on the "gentleman's moustache"
Primary Sunset Orange (NEW!) on the "cowboy moustache"
Shrinking Violet (NEW!) on the Sunglasses

I hope you try this technique soon! I've since used these props several times. Everyone has so much fun with them!

Cheers!

Wouldn't You!

Hi Everyone

This month over at WOW HQ  is wood

One of my favoriate techniques is the 'faux' wood effect on your cardstock.

Firstly, you paint acrylic paint onto a piece of card as the base, I chose brown.  Then you heat blast it to dry it off.  You then paint on some petroleum jelly (Vaseline), the cheapest you can get, not too thick, in areas on the card. Then over the top of this a further acrylic paint colour, I chose green.

You then heat over the top of this.  The oil in the Vaseline does not allow the paint to bond and so you then rub with a piece of kitchen cloth in the areas you put the Vaseline.  The paint comes off, leaving you with the underlying colour and it looks like peeled paint on wood.

I then used the 'Make a wish' stamps Versamark and ebony embossing powder to add the picture onto the cardstock.

You can use lots of different colour options for this and each time it is a different effect.

Have a great time trying this.....Sue

Tricks With Wood

This month's theme is wood. I was stumped to begin with, then I decided to redo a wooden wallet box that my husband had gotten a while back. It was a cute size for trinkets or even invitations so I thought I'd try. I wanted a metal look so I decided to use the Metallic Copper Ultra High powder. It worked just like I wanted! This is the end result!

This is what it looked like before! I added a little wooden butterfly on top as well.

I also added some misting and glossy effects droplets. It's a really rustic and aged look.

I used the Desert Sands Sahara on the wooden butterfly, and added some shimmery ribbon tied in a bow using the same colors.

To finish it up all I did was add a few little blooms. The misting shows really well and it looks like some kind of old metal box! I had to use two layers of the copper embossing, but it covered pretty well! I hope you enjoyed the project and I hope you try embossing on wood!
