Stars and Stripe Layout WOW style

Hi, this is Jenifer here with you today to share my Stars and Stripes post.  Stars and Stripes always remind me of the United States, the Flag and the 4th of July but I wanted to create a more subtle layout for my post.
This is really a simple layout that packs a big punch.  I did the stars using Melt it California Sunshine, Earthtone Honey and Sierra Sunrise.I then created the stripes using a ruler and a Wow Pen and embossing powders Earthtone blueberry, Earthtone Honey and Skyline Grey.  I love how it all came together, all the colors blend perfectly.

Stars And Stripes And Falling Leaves

Hi! Birgit here with a fall themed stars and stripes blog post.

When we were at the woods for a nice fall walk recently I picked up some leaves to take home.
I wasn't sure what to do with them, thought I'd might paint or draw on them as I had seen some fabulous leaves on the internet.

And then, when I was wondering what to create for today's blog post I saw the dried leaves lying on my desk and wondered if it would be possible to emboss them. I was thrilled to discover how well that goes!

The leaves I created are really quick and easy to make and I think they are a great eye catcher on a fall table. Or maybe frame them? I can imagine 3 frames next to each other with one leaf in the middle of each of them. Smaller leaves would be perfect to use on a scrapbook page or the focus point on a nice card...

What do you need to create these?
First of all leaves that had the chance to dry for a couple of days. I had 2 different ones and they both worked well but I can imagine that some leaves might crumble when they are dry and you try to stamp on them so better have a variety on hand.
Versamark or any other embossing ink.
Your favorite colors WOW! Embossing Powders (I used: Opaque Bright White Regular, Primary Apple Red, Bay Area Blue Regular, Indigo, Berrylicious Regular, Glamour Green Embossing Glitter)  and WOW! Deck The Halls Stamp Set.
Black permanent ink.

Start with carefully covering the biggest part of the leaf with Versamark.

Add the first color of embossing powder, starting at the bottom of the leaf. Tap off the excess embossing powder and make sure there is no loose powder left.

Then add the second color of embossing powder right above the first and tap off the excess powder again, going over the first color. Repeat this untill the whole inked area is covered.

Carefully heat emboss. Don't heat too long, just enough to make the powder melt! Your room will smell as if you were in the woods :).

Finally stamp the stars. I used the text christmas tree and made sure only to ink the star at the top.
(Or you can use a piece of scrap paper as a mask to avoid getting the tree print on your leaf.)

It's as simple as that!
I think this is totally cool. The big one is my favorite and will be on my dinner table for a while! :)

Thank you for stopping by today!
Happy crafting!

Family Star

Hello and happy Friday everyone!!

So in continuing with this months Stars and Stripes theme I have created a piece that really could be used in a couple different ways. I know typically, especially here in the U.S., whenever we hear Stars and Stripes our thoughts automatically go to 4th of July. But i wanted to do something a little different. So instead I created this piece that can be a wall hanging or an ornament.
I took this picture last Christmas and wanted to do something special with it for everyone. So I thought these would make great little pieces to give to everyone.

I started with a chipboard star album that I took apart. There were five stars pages in the album which worked out perfect. I then covered them with Tim Holtz Tissue Wrap that I had crinkled up. Next I painted over the tissue wrap with some very watered down white paint, because i still wanted the words on the tissue wrap to show thru slightly. I then sprayed it with Perfect Pearls Mist Blue Patina. After that all dried I then used my Versamark pad and inked it all up and covered it with WOW! Neutral Ultra Shimmer Embossing Powder.
Next I used the two different dot stamps from the WOW! Funky Boarder Strips Stamp Set along with StazOn Jet Black ink and stamped dots onto the star.
I can't wait to give these out to everyone next time we get together. I hope they like them as much as I do!!

Until next time...have fun crafting and creating with your WOW! products.

Warmly,
Sherrie!

Stars and Strip Challenge Time

Hello all, its my time to share what I have been up to with the wonderful WoW Embossing Powders and Foils.  The challenge is to use stars and stripes in your challenge.  I had this idea and I love it.

Don't you love the grungy look,  I love how this all came together with the layers

I made my stars using some left over patterned paper, I used a stencil and drew my star shapes, cut them out and then I got my WOW embossing pen and went around the edges.  I then sprinkled special edition embossing glitter Sahara and heat embossed.

Do you have alpha font that's the wrong colour for your project,  Try embossing them, its easy as and you get the perfect colour for your project.  Here I have used  a mixture of Earthtone Nutmeg and Earthtone Pepper.

Alex is five in this pic so I added a five to the side.

Here I have added a layer to my layout by adding Copper Fab Foil, and a splash of Red  to.

I have used a star behind a tear for more interest.

WOW products used:
Earthtone pepper regular
Earthtone Nugmeg regular
Fab foil Copper
Fab Foil Red

Well that's my share today,  I hope you have enjoyed.  There is still time to join in on our challenge, I look forward to seeing what you come up with.
Until next time happy scrappin every one xox Donna

My stars and stripes

Hi there, Nikki here with my inspiration card for you all.
Now the card I planned to do was totally different, but you know what it's like..... you start to create and end up going off in a totally different direction! lol
I like the finished card... so here's what I made and how I did it.....
This is the finished card...
I used
Fab foils in Turquoise
Caribbean Jewels powders - St Lucia Surf
                                             Cayman Coral
                                             Martinique Mauve
Take various widths of double sided tape and place them across your card.
Remove the backing.
Lay the foil across your take (coloured side up) give it a good rub to make sure it is stuck to all the tape, then peel off. I love this effect!
I used a punch to create the stars and embossed them.
This is what they looked like with one layer of embossing powder.
This is what they looked like with two layers of embossing powder.
And this is what they look like with three layers of embossing powder...
I attached them to my card with 3d foam pads and then popped on a greeting.
We would love to see what you can create with the stars and stripes theme....
Happy crafting

A Little Note..

Hi!! It's Sandie here with a little inspiration for this month's challenge theme, which is Stars and Stripes. I automatically think of Red/White/Blue, July 4th and the USA when I hear 'stars and stripes' so I decided to steer another direction and I have made a card in sweet pink, blue & yellow using powders from the Pastels collection.

I embossed the background stripes with Pastel Blue and matted it with a pink cardstock. Then I handcut a couple of stars and embossed them with Pastel Pink, adding some blue to the edges. I used the Pastel Yellow for the butterfly, which is from the With Love clear stamp set, and scissor cut it out before adhering it to a double layer of white card using 3D foam dots.

The sentiment, stamped out with Archival Black ink, is also from the With Love set. To embellish I added a couple of buttons flossed with twine.

Decadence "WOW" Style!!!

The theme for last month was "decadence" but I missed it, so I'm using my project for this month's post! I wasn't quite sure how to interpret this theme but when I hear the word decadence I think of "over indulgence". But looking up the actual meaning it has to do with the decline of morality also. So this is just my personal take!!!

There is a lot of embossing on this page! The frame and mat around the photo, the chippie dressform and corset, and even the lace! I used lots of "Desert Sands" on this page.

Here you can see the bottom of the photo frame, I used Primary Ebony Ultra High and Silver regular powder mixed. Then on the ornate chippie frame (Imaginarium Designs) I used Metallic Gold Rich Ultra High powder. The blooms are Prima.

Here you see Dressform (Imaginarium Designs). On this I used Desert Sands Gobi. And on the hanger part of it I just used more Metallic Gold Rich Regular.

Here you see the lace, which I covered with embossing ink and then sprinked with the Desert Sands Sahara powder, it's so pretty! And then on the corset (Imaginarium Designs) more of the Sahara powder.

Here you see a little more detail of the lace. It really worked well, and it's so sparkly and pretty!!!

This page was a lot of fun, choosing embellishments and making it kind of loaded up!!! I hope you don't mind that it's a month late for the theme, lol!!! Thanks for stopping by and I hope you liked the layout!

Re-vamped Stained Glass Mirror

Hi All

For this month's project of "Stars and Stripes" I re-vamped an old Stained Glass Mirror that I made ages ago. I added two stripes of double sided tape to the sides of the mirror, and then placed WoW Foils in Gold and Dark Blue over the top onto the tape.

I then added melted WoW Melt It Embossing Powder with Metallic Gold Rich Embossing Powders, Melt It Powder to St. Lucia Surf Powder from the Caribbean Jewels Set and Melt It Powder to Met. Gold Rich and Kalahari from the Desert Sands Set of powders - and poured each mixture in turn into some small star moulds.  When cool I added these stars to the corners of the mirror to decorate.

I love changing the crafts Iv'e made into something new and something that will match my home decor.

Take a look around your home and see what you could alter using the WoW powders. There are so many colours to choose from, some with sparkle included and some without.

There is even a Glow in the Dark  powder just right for Halloween.

Product used:
Metallic Gold Rich Powder
Melt It Powder
Desert Sands collection - Kalahari
Caribbean Jewels collection - St Lucia Surf

WoW Foils - Bright Gold

Stars and Stripes

Hi Everyone
Sue here

This month over at WOW HQ is 'Stars and Stripes'

I firstly used the triple embossing technique by placing versamark onto a tag then sprinkling one powder at a time onto the tag in the places I want it and then most importantly putting the left over powder back into the pot.  Heat set and repeat this technique 3 times so that the embossing powder is runny on top of the tag.  You can then stamp into it.  I used embossing powders of Apple Red, Lagoon and Bright White over Versamark.

I then stamped out Darkroom Door New York stamps in Versafine onto the molten embossing powder.

I then heat set this, which caused the image to go into the embossed background and give an 'eerie' image of the Statue of Liberty and San Francisco Bridge.

I then used the word stamps from the WOW ME collage set onto white cardstock edged with fired brick distress ink

Hope you have an inspired month....Sue

Star Tags

Stars and glitter,  a marriage made in heaven....... so to speak! These mixed media tags are made from die cut stars in different sizes, pearls re-purposed from an old jumper, wire and also fun fur and paper elements.
Cut length of wire and thread pearls or beads onto the wire, loop the wire around the pearl and feed it through the hole again to fix it in place.

Emboss your stars with sparkly WOW embossing powder of your choice, sandwich some wire between two stars and glue together.

I have used:
for the turquoise stars: St.Lucia Surf from the fabulous Caribbean Jewels Kit I have used it so much, it is nearly empty :(
The silver stars: Metallic Silver Sparkle This powder works very well when you have a lot of pieces and want to melt them all together in the oven.

Uses for these tags:
- as gift tags they make a present extra special and, in my experience, are kept for a long time by the receiver
- Christmas tree ornaments
- as a gift in itself, just add a nice quote like:

To be a star,
you must shine your own light,
follow your own path,
and don't worry about the darkness,
for that is when the stars shine brightest.

I hope you have fun making these little tags.

Happy Diwali Card

'Happy Diwali Card' by Neil Burley
It's that time of year where the dogs go nuts as it seems so many fireworks need test firing before either Diwali or Bonfire Night celebrations... I'm not entirely sure why, but my card for the stars and stripes theme this month ended up being inspired by this!

You will need:
WOW! Funky Border Strips clear stamp set
WOW! Deck The Halls clear stamp set
WOW! Embossing Glitters:
 - Magical Mauve
 - Red Glitz
 - Green Glitz
 - Blue Glitz
 - Princess Pink
 - Metallic Copper Sparkle
 - Blue Blast
 - Glamour Green
 - Metallic Brass Sparkle
 - Silver Bells
Clear embossing pad
Heat tool
Black card

For the fireworks, I used the dot 'stripe' from the Funky Border Strips and curved it on the acrylic block, varying the length but starting from the same point at the bottom. Ink it up each time with the clear embossing pad, stamp the image, then move the strip and repeat until all are printed. Now apply the Metallic Brass Sparkle and heat set.

For the stars, I took a sharp knife to the star on top of the Christmas tree on the Deck The Halls clear stamp set and cut it off to use separately. I stamped the stars one at a time on black cardstock, covered with one of the other glitters and heat set several at the same time. I then cut out each star and stuck it down with foam pads.

The 'Diwali' lettering was stamped and embossed with Silver Bells, and the 'Happy' printed using a Dymo machine. Both were mounted on the card using foam pads.

Enjoy the fireworks - and if you have pets, don't forget to keep them inside :)
